2 April, 2011…morning was a lil…a bit..i think very much
tensed and nervous. Only one thought was running in the mind whether we gonna
win tonight or not.
Sometimes good but sometimes the thoughts were scary. Don’t
know how many of us or should I say everybody was just praying the day to be
ended on a good and positive note. The day kept on moving from morning to
noon..
3148th ODI at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Crowd and fans were
just warmed up and waiting for the match to start. India lost the toss and
fielded. The day was amazing in itself. Don’t know why but I was feeling
positive and knew it somehow that we gonna win the match and lift the trophy.
Anyways being an Indian Cricket lover, it is very obvious to feel it because we
think at the start of every game : *we will win it*. Whatever happens after
that no matter.
That day was too like this. We all were quite confident
being a balanced side and having greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag,
Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and captain MS Dhoni.
But the target we got and the way we chased it, we proved
today’s saying: *we are world champions*. Most of us smelled this World Cup
victory for the first time in our lives. We were just sinking in the feeling
and sometimes now too…we just sink in.. not because of the reason that we couldn’t
win it but it is the feeling to be the champions of a game we all love and live…
And Yuvraj Singh who said these words after the
quarter-final against Australia: "For the first time in my life there have
been claps in a press conference. I am sure this is a special moment for me,
guys." That moment he would hardly know what’s gonna happen after 7 days because
of his special efforts. My heart goes out for this lad..who is hero on the
field we all know it but he is hero off the field too..he has made us know.
We live in this world with some dreams in our eyes..and as
God of cricket himself says: *Dreams do come true*. That day dream of every
Indian …fans…cricketers came true. And ya this is one of the most amazing day
of our lives which we will cherish forever and ever and will keep on saying
proudly :- we have witnessed Team India lifting the world Cup trophy.
That day I found captain MS Dhoni’s words so true : "If
you want to irritate someone that should be the opposition and not your
side." And we irritated Sri Lankans and made our Nation proud.
And I know many of us have different feeling and sentiments
attached with this day and I can go on writing miles for it..but finishes it
here with the superb and well said quote by Virat Kohli:
"Tendulkar has carried the burden of the nation for 21
years. It is time we carried him on our shoulders."
